Afghan Stitch

Yesterday i learnt this new stitch called afghan stitch from Teresa on YouTube. The stitch look super pretty, the picture doesn't really do justice to it, yarn color isnt helping either i guess ...i will put up a better picture soon .... and is very easy to do.

Here's a picture ...

I used the special afghan stitch hook from the hook set i bought from Micheal's the other day !

I think i am going to make a scarf out of the the little bit i made for practice ...i am not sure yet...i will keep you posted.

IPhone Sock

i started this project to use up some scrap yarn and to revive my knitting skills....I learnt to knit about 15 yrs ago in school and wasn't sure if I still remembered how to do it...
turns out u can never forget how to ride a bike, or swim(proven otherwise by a dear friend ;)), or knit!
I dint really follow a pattern or anything....just started out with Casting on 25 sts and then K1 row and P1 row...I changed the color for fun :)
It came out ok I think. May be I should work on my finishing. This means this space will see more knitting projects too !

Wavy Fun Afghan

This is another fun project I found on youtube…
this one is just soooo much fun !! its simple and very colorful !! i am really happy with the colors i choose they look cute against each other :) the pattern really calls for 3 colors but i choose 2 very dark colors so i had to choose another light color to balance it off

here's how i started ....i think i started off with 200 stitches ...

and here is the close up picture...

here's how much i have so far ...

I have finished i think about 1/8 of it....this is going to take longer than i thought it would...because the stitches are single crochet and 4 rows will only grow the afghan by about an inch :(

heres my progress so far ...

Granny Square Kid’s Blanket

this is something i had started out doing a long time back .....but never got around to finishing it....i m not sure why...the granny square scarf i did actually reminded me of this :)
i had 7 squares done, i sewed them together today...i am not sure where i am going with this though

here's a picture..

Granny Square Scarf

last Thursday i was stuck in traffic and was getting reallyyyyy bored.... I decided to take the mall exit and go to the mall instead of sitting in traffic :) I am so glad i did :):) i went to Micheal's and bought 2 new yarns and a set of crochet needles :):):) and then i found this amazing FREE pattern of a granny square wrap :):):):)
i was sooooo excited to start making it...i drove like a maniac got home and started make it :)
making the squares was super easy ..."joining as you go" was a bit of a challenge i think because the instructions were not as clear..after a few failed attempts i finally got it right :)

the pattern calls for 48 squares, 4 rows of 12 squares each. but i think i am going to make 3 rows of 12 each ...i want to be able to wear it like a scarf and not use it like a wrap.

i am absolutely in love with the yarns i bought they are the prettiest colors, super soft and easy to crochet with :)

Eye Glass Case

This is another project started with the same technique as the baby blanket.
first the abbrs -
mc - main color
cc - contrast color
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
sc - single crochet
sl - slip stitch
sp - space
& here’s the pattern
1. mc - Chain 31 foundation chains

2. mc - dc in the 5th stitch from the last stitch, *skip 1 ch and dc in the next stitch*, finish with a dc in the last stitch, leave the mc on, do not fasten off.

3. cc1 - starting on the opposite side, join the color with slip stitch and ch 1, *then sc in the sp between 2 dc s in the first row* finish with a sl in the last stitch. Fasten off.

4. mc – ch 4 and turn, *dc on top off the dc of the previous mc row* finish with a dc, in the last dc of the previous mc row.

5. Repeat with cc2, cc3, … till the piece measures about 10 inches.

6. fold it like you would fold an A4 sheet of paper to fit it in a rectangular envelop and then sew it.

I will post the picture of the completed case when i finish it.

edited to add -

as promised here's the final product.

Baby blanket

I love to crochet colorful cute little baby stuff.....cause its tiny and gets done really soon :) ...
ok...so i saw this really cute colorful pattern on YouTube by Teresa and couldn't wait to start making it.

I think I have about 1/3 of it done, I wanna put a nice double crochet /shell edging and finish it off with a ribbon
I am not sure if I should post patterns / instructions…may be I will post them after I finish it off.

Heart is where Art is!

Art is my passion anything from sketching, painting, paper craft, crocheting, knitting, performing art, except for writing I guess
But most of all I heart crochet. I am fascinated by what you can make out of a simple ball of yarn
I love to learn new techniques and apply them to simple patterns and make beautiful things
I consider myself an advanced beginner; I am intimidated by small crochet hooks and lacy patterns … I love them but I don’t think I can make them yet.
Hats, I think, are my nemesis …I have made several attempts but some refuse to fit the head, some would fly off your head by the slightest breeze …I will never be able to make them :(
** I started writing about my projects before I started this blog ….so some projects might not be in real time **
